General Instructions for Installing EyeCHARTS Software
FIRST-TIME INSTALLATION (assumes blank or test patient database)
- Insert CD in CDRom drive (duh!) and wait for setup to begin
- If setup does not start automatically, open CD drive and double-click “Setup.exe”
- Follow the installation prompts until setup ends
- Occasionally pop-up error messages may occur asking about a “Read Only” file; click re-try and the program should continue
- Rarely a pop-up message may state that a certain file couldn't be registered or other problem was detected. Generally, this may mean that a program might be in use already. Shut down all applications that might be running and attempt to try the installation again. In some cases, simply clicking “Ignore” on the error box is sufficient.
- If requested, restart computer before attempting to use EyeCHARTS
- Once the setup program has completed, find the desktop icon for EyeCHARTS and double click.
CUSTOMIZATION OF SETTINGS
- Another setup wizard should appear, this one allowing you to customize EyeCHARTS settings. This program is called “ECSetup.exe” and can be run at any time to reset or reconfigure you settings.
- Follow the prompts, paying close attention to file paths. At the minimum, the provider name must be entered at the “users screen.” Currently, each computer keeps a separate copy of the logon/password data. So the person using each computer should be definitely be entered on that workstation. Each password will need to be set individually on each computer (this may change in future versions).
- Once the wizard has finished, you are ready to start EyeCHARTS
FIRST TIME USER/PASSWORD SETUP:
Before using EyeCHARTS the first time a password needs to be established (this is done individually for all workstations). On the main login screen, choose “Password Options” and enter your username as the password (the assigned username is first initial plus last name”. Enter a new password and re-enter to confirm (losing or forgetting a password would be bad, very bad – currently no way to retrieve!). If you leave the password section blank, you will default to no password (not recommended!). You will be returned to the login screen.
