Installation & Setup for EyeCHARTS Software

To begin using the EyeCHARTS software, you must install and setup the program for use on your computer. Once you've run the setup.exe program from the CDROM, EyeCHARTS is placed in a folder called, amazingly enough, “EyeCHARTS”. This folder is located (providing you used the default location when installing) in your Programs Folder located on your computer's main hard drive. A shortcut to the program can be found by clicking on your Start button, selecting the Program folder, then the EyeCHARTS folder. When first run, EyeCHARTS will start a utility program that is used to setup and maintain the program and databases, as well as other smaller programs, help files, and other items you don't need to worry about, but are required for the program to run smoothly.

There a several databases that come with EyeCHARTS. The first, and most important file, is the eyecharts.mdb database file. This database stores all the important data that you generate using the EyeCHARTS program. You never want to delete or otherwise mess with this file, as it contains everything, including your practice and user information, your patient demographics and progress notes, and everything else precious to you.  Of course, regular back-ups of your data is highly recommended to prevent serious data loss.
