How do I change or add a spectacle Rx once the encounter is completed?  For instance, a patient requests a bifocal a week after the exam.

ANSWER:  Although it is possible to create a whole new encounter for this scenario, the most effiecent method is to open the most recent encounter in the CHART VIEWER and select the EDIT button on the right side.  Once the chart opens in edit mode, simply click on PRESCRIPTION VIEWER in the left-hand ToolBox list (alternately, you may use the menu View->Spectacle/CL Rx List).  Make any changes directly to the prior Rx or add a new Rx (e.g. in the Secondary Rx box).  Click the RX button to print the new Rx (make sure you save and/or sign the report when prompted).  Optionally, you can create a CHART NOTE to explain the reason for the new Rx versus creating an essentially blank encounter.

My patient called and was very dissatisfied with the trial contacts that were dispensed.  How do I document this and create a new order for different trials?

ANSWER:  Again, a new encounter could be created (but would be mostly blank space).  Try creating a CHART NOTE describing the problem and your plan.  Then open the most current encounter and enter EDIT mode.  There are two methods to enter trials:

(1)  Just like the method described for creating a spectacle Rx, you can manually enter new trials (or edit existing trials) directly in the CL TRIALS boxes.
---or----
(2)  Open the CONTACTS TOOL and enter the appropriate CL parameters.  Select whether you want to dispense or order trials (using the TRANSFER ARROW to move the data).  The data is updated in the PRESCRIPTION VIEWER (in the CL TRIALS tab).  No data is entered in the encounter however, since it has been finalized.  You must create a seperate chart note and cut/paste the data to indicate you plan, if so desired.  Also, if you are ordering trials, you can use the PRINT FORM button to generate a report.
